Web Site and Graphic Design
Degree Program
The Associate of Science Degree in Web Site and Graphic Design is a combination of computer science, technical and creative coursework, and general education courses designed to prepare a graduate for entry-level positions in the business environment with an emphasis on technology-based commerce and customer interfacing through Web Design and Web Programming.
The need for highly trained Web Designers and Programmers continues to rise. The development of new technologies usually leads to demand for various kinds of skilled workers with the Internet. The expanding integration of Internet technologies into businesses, for example, has resulted in a growing need for specialists who can develop and support Internet and intranet applications to keep companies competitive and successful.
The spread of such new technologies translates into a need for technology and web design professionals who can help organizations use technology to communicate with employees, clients, and consumers. Employment of web designers and other computer specialists is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations as organizations continue to adopt and integrate increasingly sophisticated technologies.
There is a growing demand for web designers and system analysts to help firms maximize their efficiency with available technology. Expansion of electronic commerce-doing business on the Internet-and the continuing need to build and maintain web sites are fueling demand for skilled workers familiar with the latest technology. Also, the increasing importance being placed on "cybersecurity"-the protection of electronic information-will result in a need for workers skilled in information security.
