Business and Management Technology
Degree Program
The Business and Management Technology emphasis of the Associate of Science Degree in Computer Information Science is comprised of a combination of courses in the general education, business, and computer science areas. These courses provide the necessary information to prepare a student for an entry-level career as a data processing professional in a business environment.
Occupation Outlook
The U.S. Department of Labor states that Computer Information Sciences is one of the fastest growing career fields in the United States (Occupation Outlook Handbook, 2004-2005). Business has become more reliant on technology to manage knowledge and process communication. The Associate of Science Computer Information Sciences degree with an emphasis on Business Management and Technology provides a foundation for graduates to join the workforce in entry-level positions as technical professionals and become valuable assets to their employers. Through hands-on training with the most current software applications and curricula, graduates can advance their careers in a variety of industries.
Training Objectives
A graduate of the CIS program will have the proficiency to qualify for a variety of entry-level careers. The program involves intensive, hands-on training with up-to-date computer applications used in many jobs for creating and using spreadsheets, databases, and accounting ledgers. The program has several courses to give graduates the skills needed to be successful in many organizations, such as:
